Earning Serendipity: 4 Skills for Creating and Sustaining Good Fortune in Your Work
By Glenn Llopis
Greenleaf Book Group, LLC, $21.95, 187 pages
In Earning Serendipity, Glenn Llopis combines his Cuban upbringing and highly successful and visionary corporate success with his father’s wisdom and the passion of Cuban expression by using a harvest of metaphors to show why serendipity (or good fortune) is available to us all.
Unlike other books on the market today, Llopis does not base his success on merely envisioning one’s success without social responsibility or a “take no captives” approach to life. Llopis incorporates the wisdom he learned from his father into a dialogue about how visionaries, or what he calls “idea people,” succeed and prosper by sowing seeds that blossom into opportunities and sharing and maintaining them the way one would maintain a healthy garden.
Where other self-help books might show a reader how to avoid adversity, Llopis shows how to see beyond the obvious details of adversity to discover new choices. He also writes about aligning who one is as a person with what one pursues. According to Llopis, this alignment is a critical component for anyone who wants to create good fortune.
The self-help book is especially useful for readers who are seeking the kind of wisdom that is handed down by our older generations and is often missing in our lives today. It is the wisdom of self-knowledge and why it is important to accumulate opportunities and share them in order to prosper.

Pat, thanks for your review. Earning Serendiipity is a fantastic book and that has changed my life. Llopis doesn’t an excellent job of clearly articulating the 4 skills to see and seize opportunities. His enlightened / elderly wisdom helped me understand why I did seize some of the biggest opportunities in my life and why I will never miss the chance to seize them in the future. Thanks again for sharing for others to realize the same.
