DJ, werewolf, and new bride Kitty Norville returns to Denver with her husband Ben from their supposedly quickie elopement to Vegas. There, Kitty faced a vampire priestess that had been sacrificing lycanthropes to a Babylonian goddess, and stopped her and the cult temporarily. But following them from Vegas is a fire demon, raised by the cult survivors to get revenge on Kitty by targeting those closest to her. Kitty becomes entangled with a TV show crew investigating supernatural occurrences, and she needs to balance out the help she gets from Denver’s master vampire, Rick, and the demon slaying vampire Roman, who appears maybe just be a bit too coincidentally. Even Kitty’s radio audience gets into the act, helping her put together the pieces to break the curse and keep the lost lives to a minimum. This, and the previous book detailing the Las Vegas adventure, Kitty and the Dead Man’s Hand, were released one month after each other, giving Vaughn’s waiting fans reason to celebrate.
